Drupal Camp in Montreal

The entire Evolving Web team had a great time at DrupalCamp this weekend. Suzanne Kennedy gave a presentation on building bilingual sites, while Alex Dergachev and Logan Smyth gave a presentation on Apache Solr search. Everyone else pitched in around the camp helping register attendees, setting up and cleaning up each day, and making sure that everyone found their way around.

It's amazing to see how many local Drupalers there are around the Montreal region. We even had some dedicated developers make the trek from Boston, Philadelphia, and even as far away as Berkeley.

One thing that makes Drupal a really special web development tool for our clients is their ability to draw on the resources of this larger Drupal community. When you have a site built in Drupal, you don't have to worry about being tied to one developer for life nor do you have to worry about ongoing licensing fees or, worse yet, not being able to find someone to help you out when your site needs maintenance. Every Drupal site owner has the option to reach out to their local Drupal community, whether by attending local conferences like DrupalCamp Montreal or by seeking out help on Groups.Drupal.

Isn't it nice to know that you have a website with one of the strongest bases of developer support around? But don't take our word for it, here's a recent article in
Xconomy that explains why half a million organizations have decided that they need a Drupal website.
